Vail Valley Welcomes a New Year with Lots of Celebrations

By Caitlin Row | Tuesday, December 26, 2017

After Vail and Beaver Creek ski resorts received much-needed snow over the holiday weekend, I'm happy to report more skiable terrain opened for exploration.

As of Tuesday, Vail Mountain opened its new Northwoods Express, which was upgraded over the summer. This lift is found on Vail Mountain's front side and accesses intermediate and advanced runs.

At the time of this writing, Vail Mountain offered 12 lifts open along with 32 trails open, spanning 900 acres. Beaver Creek offered 18 lifts open and 29 trails open, spanning 481 acres.

The New Year's holiday weekend will feature mostly clear weather with highs in the 40s. Click here for an up-to-date weather forecast.

With that in mind, here are my top picks for Vail Valley This Week.
