Vail Mountain Delays Opening to Thanksgiving; Beaver Creek Will Open on Wednesday

By Caitlin Row | Tuesday, November 14, 2017

The 2017-18 Vail Valley ski season is upon us, folks. Vail Mountain was supposed to open this Friday, November 17. At the time of this writing, it was announced that Opening Day was delayed until Thursday, November 23 (otherwise known as Thanksgiving Day) due to lack of snow.

Beaver Creek Resort's Opening Day is still set for Wednesday, November 22.

By delaying Opening Day, it should allow for Vail Mountain to continue to make snow (it's been a lot colder lately, which should help) while natural precipitation falls as well.

The weather forecast happens to be calling for some snow on Friday, which is fortuitous since it's been about 10 days since our last snowfall. I'm praying for snow!

With both Vail-area ski resorts resuming winter operations next week, fun around the valley is on the horizon. With that in mind, here are my top picks for Vail Valley This Week.
