Memorial Day Weekend Features Sunshine, Beer and BBQ Around the Vail Valley

By Caitlin Row | Tuesday, May 22, 2018

Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start to summer around the Vail Valley, with lots of fun planned for visitors and locals alike. I love this time of year because it's warm (but not too hot), mountainsides are beginning to green, wildflowers are freshly bloomed, parking is plentiful, and the world simply feels fresh.

Temperatures are reaching high 70s throughout the week, with lots of sunshine predicted. It's time to make last-minute plans to visit the mountains (if you weren't already planning to make the trip).

With that in mind, here are my top picks for Vail Valley This Week.

Enjoy Vail Events

Live music with Cold Smoke Cannon is planned for Friday, May 25, at Ein Prosit in Avon. Then head to Monday Afternoon Club at Ein Prosit on Monday, May 28.

The 15th annual Beaver Creek Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival is set for Saturday and Sunday, May 26 and 27. The event starts at noon on both days. Barbecue and beer will be served up, and attendees will enjoy live blues music by performers like Hazel Miller Band, Coco Montoya, ZZ Ward and more. This is an enjoyable event, and the weather will be perfect for outdoor fun at Beaver Creek Resort.

A pop-up concert is planned for Avon's Nottingham Park on Monday, May 28, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Check out a full list of events going on here.

More Vail Things To Do

The GoPro Mountain Games are coming up Thursday, June 7, through Sunday, June 10. Now's the time to book hotel rooms if you haven't already. Check out Vail Valley hotel options here. If a vacation rental is more your style, options can be viewed here.

Since the Vail Valley is already enjoying summer weather, a game of golf may be desired. Here's a list of golfing options.

A pre-dinner happy hour may also be on the agenda. Here's Everything Vail Valley's list of dining and drink offers.
