Fresh Powder Arrives in Vail as the Final Countdown to Opening Day Arrives

By Caitlin Row | Tuesday, November 6, 2018

Early season snow ... it creates this zinging energy in a ski town, and everyone is excited!

Thankfully, we were blessed with quite a windfall of white stuff last weekend. On Facebook on Monday, November 5, Vail Mountain posted a photo showing nearly 15 inches of fresh snow via measuring stick. With Opening Day currently set for Friday, November 16, this was fortuitous! Summit County, to the east of Vail Pass, was blessed with heavy snowfall as well. So much so that Keystone and Breckenridge are both opening early on Wednesday, November 7.

And guess what! More snow may be on the horizon. OpenSnow called for some snow this Thursday, November 8. Even so, is showing a mostly clear 10-day forecast. These predictions tend to shift every few days, so continue to check back by clicking here.

With that in mind, here are my top picks for Vail Valley This Week.
