Hello, spring? Are you out there? The Equinox is happening Wednesday, March 20, and even though I may feel an imperceptible shift in daytime warmth, winter is hanging on.
Here's a fun springtime-in-the-mountains activity ... cooking out at Blue Sky Basin's Belle's Camp at Vail Mountain's Back Bowls. Belle's Camp offers outdoor seating and grills for folks willing to strap on a backpack and bring up their goodies. You'll certainly see me up there snacking and soaking in our big, bright sun. Pick a sunny day and pack some brats or even some steak. Belle's Camp offers basic food options like sandwiches, libations and sweet treats. Check it out!
Here's another fun tip: Head over to Arapahoe Basin Ski Area (my favorite Summit County ski spot) if you have an extra day in your trip. Next season A-Basin will no longer be part of the Epic Pass, so get your turns in now.

More Vail Area Things To Do
If you like turquoise and pearls, Rocky Mountain Silver & Beads in Edwards is a fun stop off the beaten track. The jewelry here is spectacular and reminiscent of Santa Fe fare. Plus they host regular classes focused on making bracelets, necklaces and earrings. Then head over to the Bookworm of Edwards, located in the same shopping area (the Riverwalk) for a crepe and a fancy coffee.
Looking for a souvenir blanket for your car? Mountain Tees in Lionshead offers these super-cozy blankets made out of sweatshirt material, and they say Vail!
West Vail Liquor Mart, located in (you guessed it) West Vail, has its Big Spring Sale coming up Friday through Sunday, April 12 to 14. Now, this is a ways off yet, but it's worth mentioning because their doing 20% off all wine, 15% off liquor and 10% off beer. If you're around, this is a good time to stock up for end-of-season and off-season adventures.
