Comedy, Live Music and Kids Stuff Around Vail Valley This Week

By Caitlin Row | Tuesday, February 14, 2017

At the time of this writing, folks around the Vail Valley were celebrating Valentine's Day! With President's Day on Monday, many visitors around town now are certainly making a week of it. It's a good thing there's plenty to do on and off the mountain.

Here are top picks for fun around Vail Valley this week:

Big Names at Vilar

Vilar Performing Arts Center, a well-loved spot in Beaver Creek, is hosting a variety of high-caliber performers this week: comedian Paula Poundstone on Thursday, Feb. 16; Popovich Comedy Pet Theater on Saturday, Feb. 18; Vocalosity: The Aca-Perfect Concert on Sunday, Feb. 19; and then the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

That's quite the lineup, and it will certainly offer something for every interest, be it laughs, music or dance. Tickets are on sale now.

Lots of Live Music

The upcoming holiday weekend offers a variety of musical artists. T&J Band will perform Friday, Feb. 17, at Bonfire Brewing in Eagle. Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad will also perform Friday at Agave in Avon. Afro: New Disco Grooves, which is a performance by DJ Jahstone, is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18, at Loaded Joe's in Avon. Fort Knox 5 also performs Saturday at Bol Vail in the village. Kyle Hollingsworth Band performs Sunday, Feb. 19, at Agave. For a full list of weekend events, check out Vail Valley This Week.

Kids Stuff

Family vacation just got more fun. Beaver Creek Resort's PrezFest, which celebrates (you guessed it) President's Day, is scheduled through the weekend. Kicking off Friday, Feb. 17, it features a live cast of presidential characters, organized games and more. The event is staged in the village plaza, next to the ice rink. It will run through Monday, Feb. 20.

Beer-cation

OK, Beer-cation definitely sounds like taking a vacation focused on beer. And you certainly could around Vail with all the local and regional brews on tap.

In my mind it also stands for an upcoming event, The Economics of Beer, which is hosted by Vail Symposium on Thursday, Feb. 23. It features speaker Steward Glendinning, the CEO of Molson Coors International. The talk starts at 6 p.m., with a reception at 5:30 p.m. The location was recently announced as The Grand View, 395 E. Lionshead Circle. Buy tickets here.

Go drink some!
