Confession: I am not a huge football fan. But don’t worry, I’m mostly alone in this among my friends, who I’ve joined in a pub to watch many a game over the years. Through these experiences I’ve realized that a good sports bar must meet a few key criteria: 1) lots of TVs with access to all the major sports packages, 2) food and drink specials, 3) ample seating and 4) great atmosphere. These four Vail pubs fit the bill.

Garf’s is a locals' go-to for many different occasions, from après ski to a late-night beer and, of course, for watching the game. They have flat-screen TVs on both sides of the bar and throughout the restaurant, plus Monday night football food and drink specials. Garf’s is a great option for when you want to get a few runs in during half time since it’s located right at the base of the Eagle Bahn Gondola in Lionshead.

This cozy basement pub is also beloved by locals. It’s a great spot for cheering on your team while indulging in all the comfort food (I recommend the nachos or the fish and chips). Plus, their daily happy hour goes from 3 to 9 p.m. The George gets busy fast, especially during ski season afternoons, so get there early to snag a spot on a couch, at a booth or at the bar.

Fifteen flat-screen TVs plus more than 20 craft beers on tap equals Vail Ale House. This equation makes the Ale House a true sports bar and easily one of the best spots in Vail for watching football. They have access to all the major sports packages, so if your team’s playing you’re pretty much guaranteed to catch the game here. Check out their Monday night football menu and drink specials and their recently introduced extend happy hour(s).
